This place is an unincorporated territory of the United States, its location is in the northeastern Caribbean east of the Dominican Republic and west of both the United States Virgin Islands and the British Virgin Islands. It counts close to 300 beaches on which you can camp, dive, go surfing and do lots of other adventurous things. One of the most popular beaches in Puerto Rico are:

Flamenco Beach

A beach which is located in the small Culebra Island. Its sky colored water and soft sand surrounded by palm trees and green nature will leave you speechless. This beach is known for its excellent sport fishing, swimming, and diving sites and it is also generally regarded as the finest beach in Puerto Rico, and quite possibly the whole Caribbean.

Escambrón Beach

This beach is located in the doorstep of the old city San Juan! Escambrón Beach is one of the most visited destination by the tourists and no wonder why. It is surrounded by hotels, parks, the water is calm which makes it a perfect destination for family vacation. There are also picnic tables located at the beach so you can prepare something nice for your family or friends.

Sun Bay Beach

Sun Bay is located in Vieques which is about 8 miles (13 km) east of the Puerto Rican mainland. It also has the nickname “Isla Nena”, from Spanish meaning “Little Girl Island”, alluding to its perception as Puerto Rico’s little sister. Sun Bay is considered one of the best beaches in this island. Its one of the easiest beaches to access to. Sun Bay has around 2 miles (3.2 km) sky and sand to enjoy to.

So, after a long day at the beach, swimming, diving, fishing and so on, your hearth is filled from the beauty, but lets not forget your stomach!

Traditional food

The aromas and colorful meals from Puerto Rico are result from mixing herbs and spices. The main herbs and spices that make the food so good are peppercorns, oregano, garlic, salt, olive oil, and lime juice or vinegar. When cooking a meal all of these ingrediants are rubbed onto the meats before they are cooked.

One of the many traditional dishes in Puerto Rico is Carne Guisada Guertorriqueña which is basically a beef stew, with different flavors than the classical beef stew. This dish is served with rice and beans and its not hard to make. The ingredients are affordable and everyone can make this tasty meal for their loved ones.

For all those who prefer pasta, no worries. Pastelón is the traditional lasagna from Puerto Rico. It is made from yellow plantains, garlic, onions, cilantro, cheese, butter, and meat. It is very easy to make.

When it comes to drinks in Puerto Rico the first thing that probably pops in your mind is Rum. And you are absolutely right! Rum is the national drink and you can find it in various shades. Puerto Rico is the number one producer of rum in the world. On the other hand this island does not produce wine so the other drink to get besides rum is beer which would fit perfectly with the Pastelón!
